Delta 9 hemp: your questions, answered

As we celebrate the launch of our first-ever hemp-derived THC collection, let’s take a look at the hero compound that made it possible.

First up, what does ‘hemp-derived’ mean, and why do we care?

Great question. Essentially, ‘hemp-derived’ means ‘cannabis extracted from the hemp plant’. There are two types of cannabis: hemp and marijuana. The difference between the two? Hemp cannabis contains less than 0.3% THC. Marijuana cannabis contains more than 0.3% THC. Both types have the identical chemical compound (there’s just a lot less of it in hemp).

Got it. But how does that affect me?

Well, first of all, hemp-derived cannabis is federally legal. Since the 2018 Farm Bill, any product made from hemp-derived D9 THC is legal to buy in any store. Marijuana-derived THC products are only legal on a state by state basis.

Is it natural?

Yes! D9 THC is a naturally occurring compound in the plant. Did you know that there have been 20,000 studies done on the cannabis plant? And over 140 clinical trials have been conducted on D9 THC alone, making it the most studied compound found in plants.

Will it get me high?

Yup. We would describe it as a ‘light buzz’ that you can build to your perfect level.

What about medicinal benefits?

How long do you have? D9 THC is 20 times more effective at pain-relief than Ibuprofen. It’s already licensed for the treatment of patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and neurological degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Plus it’s a potent anti-inflammatory agent and antioxidant. It’s also prescribed to treat chemo-induced nausea and vomiting, and works well as a muscle relaxant. Not bad for a humble plant!

Sounds amazing. How would you recommend taking it?

The oHHo motto is ‘start low, go slow’. Our D9 THC mixer has an onset time of around 20 minutes and lasts around an hour. Our D9 THC edibles have an onset time of 20 minutes to four hours, depending on the individual. The effect lasts around 2 hours.

What does it taste like?

We’re glad you asked! Our first D9 THC collection is called ‘Pink Grapefruit’ for a reason. We worked hard to create the perfect zesty buzz! Think refreshing citrus.

Anything else?

Two words: no hangover. The all-natural D9 compound is different to alcohol. It’s the cleanest way to achieve a social buzz. Plus, no disrupted sleep. Need we say more?!
