Happy masturbation and mental health month! As a love, sex, and life coach, I am always on the lookout for new trends in sexual wellness. When CBD products started hitting the streets, I became increasingly curious about its effects. Initially the assumption I made about CBD was that it was essentially a placebo drug. Boy, was I wrong!
Being the retired stoner that I am, I was always aware of the positive effects of THC when having sex—increased sex drive, performance, and pleasure (more intense orgasms!). Cannabis, especially in the form of lube, has also been shown to relieve pain during sex (something 3 out of 4 vagina-owners report experiencing). But no one ever talks about what happens if you get too high to have sex or if you get cotton-mouth of the pussy (LMAO please tell me I’m not the only one who has!).
This is where CBD comes in! CBD has a lot of the beneficial effects of THC during sex without the paranoia that sometimes comes along with ingesting THC. Talk about a win-win. Studies show that CBD could boost libido, aid erectile dysfunction, and help with poor lubrication. CBD can alleviate inhibition during sex, as well as reduce pain during penetration. This natural aphrodisiac improves desire and increases blood flow and nerve sensation, which can help enhance sexual pleasure and intensify orgasms for everyone involved.
CBD is also very beneficial in terms of regulating positive physical and mental health. CBD oil helps manage sleep schedule, appetite, the immune system and pain response NATURALLY. It’s even been shown to treat acne! Absolutely j’adore. My favorite effect CBD has is how it reduces stress and anxiety. One of the biggest issues that comes up with my clients is anxiety about sex. This anxiety can stem from a number of reasons: pressure to perform, getting physical with a new partner, or even dealing with past sexual trauma. Using CBD in the bedroom acts as an anti-anxiety and creates a feeling of relaxation and elation, translating into amplified sexual pleasure.
My relationship with CBD has been very rewarding. It gives me a calm mind, instead of overthinking every single detail. It allows me to be present and engaged in my body. It heightens my pleasure and connection during solo-sex and with a partner. It’s improved my sleep cycle 1000%, something that is truly invaluable if you’ve ever struggled with insomnia. For these reasons and more, I am so glad I didn’t write off CBD as a placebo drug and instead found a natural solution that really works for me.
